House Alba is a small studio. We collect as little as we can and treat what we do collect with care. Here is exactly what that means.
What we collect
If you sign up to hear when the shop opens, we collect your email address. That is the only information the signup asks for.
If you buy something, you enter your name, email address, shipping address and card details on a checkout page run by Stripe, our payment processor. We receive your name, email and shipping address so we can make and send your order. Your card number goes to Stripe and is never seen by us.
For each order we also keep a short record of our own: what was bought, the amount paid and tax, the town and state it ships to, and its tracking number once it ships.
If you email us, we have your email address and whatever you choose to write.
When you visit, we keep a simple record of the visit so we can see how people find and use the site: which pages you look at (such as Shop or About) and whether you start a checkout, in what order, and for how long; the site that sent you here, such as Instagram; whether you are on a phone or a computer; and your approximate city and state, which our host works out from your internet address. We do not keep the internet address itself.
To tie one visit's steps together, your browser tab holds a random visit number. It is not a cookie, it is not shared with anyone, and it disappears when you close the tab. Nothing in these records connects a visit to your name or email address.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not set cookies of our own.
How we use it
We use your email address to send House Alba news: the shop opening, new pieces, and occasional studio updates. We use it for nothing else.
We use the details from an order to ship it, to email you its tracking number when it is on its way, to answer questions about it, and to keep the business and tax records the law requires. Buying something does not add you to our mailing list.
We never sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Services we rely on
Our mailing list is run by Kit, which stores subscriber email addresses and sends our emails for us. Like most email services, Kit records whether an email is opened and which links are clicked.
The site is hosted by Vercel, whose servers keep standard technical logs, such as IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
The visit records described above are stored with Supabase, our database provider.
Payments are handled by Stripe, which processes your card, works out sales tax and keeps the payment record. Order records are stored with Supabase alongside the visit records.
Shipping labels are made with Shippo, which receives your name and shipping address to print the label and passes them to the postal carrier.
All five are based in the United States. Their privacy policies, linked above, describe how they handle data.
The Instagram and Facebook icons are ordinary links. Nothing from those platforms loads on this site until you click through, and their own policies apply after that.
Your choices
Signing up is double opt-in: nothing is sent until you confirm your address from the first email we send.
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are off the list.
To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, email us at hello@housealba.com and we will take care of it.
Keeping it
We keep your email address for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, we remove it.
Order details are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, usually seven years.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
